Veterans Day recognizes U.S. military service, heroism [1]

Each year on Veterans Day, Americans pay tribute to service members such as World War II veteran Remigio “Rey” Cabacar (above).

Cabacar served in a U.S. Army unit under the command of General Douglas MacArthur and, along with other Filipino American World War II veterans, belatedly received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2017.

On Veterans Day, ceremonies and parades honor the sacrifices of U.S. veterans whose service has protected the United States and defended its freedoms and values.
