The U.S. Bid to Host Expo 2027 in Minnesota [1] [] Date: 2023-06 About the U.S. Bid Our bid has four features that stand out: Our site is Expo-ready. Our theme is compelling . . The Expo will serve as a gateway to the heartland of America. Our unique public-private partnership approach allows the best of public and private sector talents to ensure success of the Expo. The United States offers the nations of the world a larger market than any of the other competitors to promote exports, attract foreign direct investment, increase tourism, and develop commercial and educational partnerships that will benefit participating nations. The state of Minnesota is home to some of the world’s most respected companies. Seventeen Fortune 500 companies and 15 of the Forbes Global 2000 firms have headquarters in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Minnesota is a global center of excellence in medicine, wellness, and healthcare. Nine Fortune 500 companies operating in the health, nutrition, medical technology, and wellness sectors are based in Minnesota. These companies include Medtronic, 3M, General Mills, Ecolab, Land O’ Lakes, and Hormel Foods. Minnesota is also home to the largest private company in the world: agri-business giant, Cargill. Minnesota is the home of Medical Alley which is an association of the world’s leading health technology innovation cluster, the highest ranked hospital (Mayo Clinic), and the globally recognized Destination Medical Center. It is known as the “Silicon Valley of Healthcare.” Minnesota leads the nation in food patents per capita and is on the forefront of agricultural research and innovation. Part of promoting health and wellness includes the ability to keep populations sustainably nourished. The city of Bloomington has identified a plot of land that is adjacent to the Mall of America, a 5.6 million square feet (520,000 square meters) super mall that currently attracts about one million global visitors per week. Minnesota’s world-class transit and hospitality resources are scaled to host 1,000,000 visitors for the NFL Super Bowl, 2,000,000 visitors to the two-week Minnesota State Fair, and 43 million annual visitors to the Mall of America. The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is a 10 minute drive from the prospective Expo grounds and was recognized by Airports Council International as the best airport in North America.
