Implementing the U.S. Strategy on Countering Corruption [1] [] Date: 2023-09 Today the U.S. Department of State is releasing an implementation plan for the U.S. Strategy on Countering Corruption. Corruption saps economic growth, hinders development, destabilizes governments, undermines democracy, and foments global instability. In recognition of these threats, President Biden established countering corruption as a core national security interest and foreign policy priority shortly after taking office. During the first Summit for Democracy in December 2021, the Administration released the first-ever U.S. Strategy on Countering Corruption. Pursuant to the strategy, this implementation plan articulates activities the U.S. Department of State is undertaking to integrate and elevate the fight against corruption across all aspects of our global engagement. In the spirit of open government and transparency, we are releasing this plan during the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit and as we prepare for a three-year term on the OGP Steering Committee. The Department of State welcomes feedback on this implementation plan to AC_Coordination@state.gov and looks forward to collaborating with our partners as we continue to counter corruption.
