Lambright, who has held the job since early 2021, will temporarily stay on during a transition period until July 5, David Waller, president of the park’s governing board, said at a Tuesday evening meeting. Lambright was the leader of the organization during a months-long battle over a conservancy-backed proposal to build a road through the park that would have run through the popular Grow Dat Youth Farm. The plan was met with widespread outrage by many throughout New Orleans, including hundreds of people at a public meeting in March, many of whom said the conservancy was putting a valued community resource at risk of closure. Former New Orleans City Attorney Rebecca Dietz, who has recently served as the conservancy’s vice president and chief administrative officer, was selected by the CPIA board to replace Lambright.
