The contributions of health professions to the climate change & health agenda [1]

This meeting will explore the role and contributions of the health professions, and their representative associations, councils, institutions and schools, to climate action within the global climate and health agenda, including catalyzing health system commitments where they have still not been made, and catalyzing effective implementation of such commitments. In particular:

What role should health professions play in the implementation of the recently approved WHA77 Resolution on climate change and health? What role do health professions and their representative associations, councils, institutions and schools play in promoting, preventing, detecting and responding to climate change? What actions and enablers, including capacity needs, are needed to empower their role and voice in protecting human health and its associated determinants? How can they influence normative evidence and guidance on education and practice? What are the solutions, and how can they accelerate progress on resilient, low carbon health systems in their countries? What contributions can they make towards environmentally sustainable health facilities?

Speaker presentations will enable participants to learn more about progress to date on national health system resilience and decarbonization, and how ATACH is being implemented in countries. And interactive opportunities will seek participant experience and input into how health system transformation can be accelerated, and what role the health professional community can play.
