Webinar: Supporting a strategic approach to urban health [1] [] Date: 2024-06-18 The need to move beyond siloed approaches to health and toward comprehensive, integrated policy and practice is a pillar of WHO’s work, reflected in guidance on the Social Determinants of Health, Health in All Policies, and other areas. A strategic, multi-sectoral approach is especially critical in the face of urban complexity, and urban health is an urgent and growing challenge for decision-makers everywhere. WHO has recently released a new series of policy briefs to support strategic reflection among urban health decision-makers. Each brief focuses on a cross-cutting theme: generating and working with evidence; governance and financing; innovation; and partnerships and participation. Collectively, these represent the essential “means of implementation” that set the stage for a strategic approach to urban health. This webinar will present the new series. Discussants from a range of domains will reflect on the value of strategic approaches to urban health and prospects for amplifying and scaling best practices. The event will also feature a call for case studies that illustrate strategic action for urban health at city or national level.
