sunny and cold ~winter ------------------------------------------------------------------ It's below freezing here, again, has been for the last week, probably will be for the next four or five months. And something about today's breakfast - Saturday, so, bacon and eggs, toast, hash browns - is reminding me of the summer of 2016, when we did a trip around Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. One morning in Dalkey we wandered into town, had a full breakfast, including beans, white and black pudding. My partner doesn't like any of these, so we finangled a trade. I gave her my bacon and sausages, took her pudding and beans. I don't know if I got the better of the trade, but I definitely got fuller. I remember we didn't eat until supper, when we turned up early to a pub, were the only ones there, and after a day of doing nothing but walking, had the greatest pints of our lives. Was I thinking about the food or the walking? I like walking; we often take our dogs on long walks on the weekend, at least an hour, and often two. Winter scuttles that. We go for short walks, just as much as the dogs can handle. They're smaller, so they can't be out for hours, they'd freeze. Long days outside are months ahead.
