None of the overplaying of Tom Coster...the heavy handed bar room pseudo boogie of Pete Sears...no...THIS guy is a player. ....and he KNOWS to stay the fuck outta Masters way...but is hip enough to kick out the jam when needed...witness the spacey electric piano on Traffics "Glad"...fantastic. an essential part of the process...comps like a motherfucker... Yes, this is not all about supply-demand and market forces setting price. These organizations (sports teams, bands, etc) often attempt to set prices so that people of various income levels are able to attend events if they choose. That's certainly in part why there are anti-scalping laws passed and those laws are spelled out on the physical article, namely the ticket. Up until he had a stroke in '98, my father's hair was the same dirty blond color it had been since he was a teenager -- then it turned completely grey w/in a year. His goatee, otoh, has been grey since I was in high school. My beard's been turning white over the past few years. I get a kick out of it whenever I notice that another little clump of hairs have gone white. The bald head quickly gives away my age, so I don't worry about the white in my beard making me look old. I bleached my hair in the summer of '85 but I didn't take into account my beard, so the bright white on top made it look ever darker. As my hair grew out, the dark roots looked *really* shitty, especially with the beard. It made my job at The Channel a little easier as apparently a 6'4" guy with hideously fucked up hair and a long beard can be intimidating. That brings back sweet memories. Take just a drop or two and paint it on a spliff. Good shit. -- Ken Fortenberry ------------------------------ From: "rcb30" Subject: DP 36 / DeadAhead / Fillmore 3-disc pre-order is up. Date: 5 Oct 2005 14:51:36 -0700 Reading via Google, sorry if this is old news. Various pre-order combos for this stuff, some including a t-shirt, are up at the official store. The Fillmore set is listed as $32. DP 36: 9/21/72! Of interest to those of us who have a copy of this show already, the disc 4 filler is 9/3/72 Boulder, He's Gone > Other One > Wharf Rat. No timing given. Anybody heard the filler before? More interesting than the single-disc '68 Download Series offering to me is the So Many Roads box, which is now downloadable. Price for FLAC's is $30.70. I never got this. Hmm. Anyway, pre-ordering Dead Ahead gets you a CD of the DVD's bonus tracks, while pre-ordering the Fillmore set gets you a bonus set described thusly: "All pre-orders taken before the ship date will receive an exclusive bonus CD containing previously unreleased Grateful Dead performances recorded at the Carousel Ballroom and Fillmore West between 1968-1970, including a just-unearthed 30 minute version of "Caution" from June, 1968, and a "He Was A Friend Of Mine > China Cat Sunflower > New Potato Caboose" jam from June, 1969, amongst other great material." The ship is listed as first week of November, so we seem to have this month for the pre-order stuff. rcb http://parenthetical.blog-city.com Music, politics, culture, food ... ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** The service addresses, to which questions about the list itself and requests to be added to or deleted from it should be directed, are as follows: Internet: dead-flames-request@gdead.berkeley.edu Bitnet: dead-flames-request%gdead.berkeley.edu@ucbcmsa Uucp: ...!{ucbvax,uunet}!gdead.berkeley.edu!dead-flames-request You can send mail to the entire list (and rec.music.gdead) via one of these addresses: Internet: dead-flames@gdead.berkeley.edu Bitnet: dead-flames%gdead.berkeley.edu@ucbcmsa Uucp: ...!{ucbvax,uunet}!gdead.berkeley.edu!dead-flames End of Dead-Flames Digest ****************************** . 0
