So let's put something together for you. A question or two: Do you know how to work with compressed music files? ..shns and .flacs? Is there something that you would like from 1972? I am in the midst of downloading that year, and also have received a bunch of stuff from Ted from 1972, so it would be no great pain to make you a copy of a show, either compressed or audio, and send it to you. Edit my email address as noted below, and email me your snail mail address with a 1972 show date request. If you can't get good broadband where you are, drop me a line (you'll need to take out the obvious bit from my address to make it work). I can pass on the surplus before my floorboards break. Also - we have the very wonderful Eurotraders group with regular trees, vines, B&Ps etc etc. One of the most regualar recipients of B&P is actually from the US! (Hi Vicki!) Which just goes to show that dearth of downloading ain't just a UK thing. It's them folks in Afghanistan I feel sorry for... You'll find eurotraders by searching on the yahoo groups page. It was set up to reduce the complications of transatlantic trades). Not that they were ever that hard - Steve Terry just did me a great B&P of certain Fillmore 69 shows. What us Paw Baaws need is more shows - more Ratdog! At least some Phil. Date: Sat, 8 Oct 2005 12:22:56 -0400 My 10-6-2005 New Riders of the Purple Sage experience. Here we go, I was at work Thursday and a friend of mine from high school who now lives in Colorado and was in the area visiting her father called me up. She asked me how I was doing and we chatted for a while. She wanted to get together and hang out for the evening. I remembered the post I saw that The New Riders of the Purple Sage was going to be in the area. So I asked her if she wanted to go. She said yea, let's do it. So I left work a little earlier and went home to take a S, S & S. I met her at a hotel parking lot and we then took the booie mobile and headed north up New Jersey Turnpike. We talked about this & that. We got caught up on all sorts of things. We both agreed that it was the best thing for her to move from the northeast Pennsylvania (Jim Thorpe area) to where she lives now in Grelee , CO. Her kids turned out great and very well educated. Involved with music and playing all knds of instruments. She told me that that area is booming like crazy. It seems like a lot of the Californians are storming into town and bringing their California ways. Even though that is happening, it still sounds like a nice place to live. We knew if she had stayed in PA the kids would be nothing like hey are now. So I asked her if she wanted to get some sushi before the show? She sid she never tried it. My friend told me that he only raw fish that she has ever eaten was oysters. I told her sushi tastes a lot better than oysters. She was like, why not let's give it a try. I like that in a girl. Those kinds are far and few. Some girls won't try anything! We got to the restaurant with no problem. There was no traffic on the NJ Pike, but people were flying down the road out for blood! Wegot off the exit and found a parking spot in the front of the place. We walked in and there was a handful of people there. That was great. We sat right at the bar (sushi). No wait, that was so cool. Usually there the place is packed and there is like a 30 minute wait. She liked the place. I had to show her the ropes. Any where from how to dip the sushi in the soy sauce to separating the wooden chop sticks that were fuses together to actually holding the sticks and using them to pick up the food. She got the hang of it after a while. I was chowing down like there was no tomorrow. The bill came to about $45.00. She only had a couple of plates. The rest was all me. I loved it! We finished up and we left. I felt satisfied and so did she. We got in the car and then headed towards the Mexicali Cafe to get some tickets. It was like 8:00pm. Turns out there was quite a few people out front looking for tickets. I then parked my mobile and headed to the front of the venue to see what was up. . The show was sold out! WHAAA!!!! While I was stuffing my face with sushi the show was being sold out! I heard from a girl out front that they had something like 15 tickets to sell at the door when they opened. I was fucked!!! That pissed me off. We looked at each other and just hung around aimlessly asking people for extra's. There was nothing! There was also 30 other people looking for the same thing. I saw a couple of people that I knew that had just got tickets. I learned a valuable lesson that evening. Either get my tickets way before the show or get the ticket before I stuff my face with sushi. I then mossied up to the front door to see if I could use my booie clout to try and get us in. I talked to a guy at the front and that did no good. I then talked to the owner and he said there was nothing he could do. The show was sold out. So we stood by he door and just waited around to see what would happen. As we are waiting we run into Michael Falzarano. We got to talking to him for a while. My friend like that. He tied to get us in but he to had no luck. We thanked him anyway. As we were waiting in the same spot we saw David Nelson walk right by us. I said to my friend the he goes, Willie Nelson, I mean David Nelson. It just slipped out. David heard me and just kept on walking but the girl he was with that was behind him heard it and just smiled as she went by me. I couldn't believe I said that! Oh well ; ) So it is coming close to 9:00pm and the band is getting ready to take the stage. We still stayed in the same spot and then the owner of the club gives me the high sign and tells me to come closer. Turns out a guy had two extras. We jumped on them quicker than a cat could wink it's eye! . Meanwhile the band is on stage tuning up. I got my wr 2000 ist band and paid the guy the $20.00 and then went back to my car to get my equipment. I went across the street and got my stuff and then headed back in. I buzzed to the back of the venue and started to set up. I put my batteries in and then the tape and I asked a guy for a patch until I can get my stuff set up. I just missed a few seconds of the first song. I then got my stand up and then my microphones. After the second song I was ready and paused my deck in between songs and switched microphones. My system was rolling. I then went over to the bar and my friend got 2 shots of Jose Quivero straight up and a cup of coke and she got me a Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale (12oz). That never tasted so good! Here we were inside the venue drinking what we wanted and the New Riders of the Purple Sage were jamming in a small venue that was sold out. They sounded pretty good. My friend was having a good time also. I then was standing around babying my beer. I had these shorts that had these pockets on the side by my thigh and I kept by beer in there when I was not drinking it. It freed my hands up. I then went over to check on the levels on my deck. As I went to kneel down the beer in my side pocket started to spill out and came within inches of some guy's D5. He was like were is this liquid coming from. I was like WHAAAAAA!!!!! It came so close. I'm such a shmuck! It was just about an inch of beer left in the bottle, but still waht a stupid move on my part!!! We were milling all about enjoying the music. I was still full from the sushi. Food was not on my mind through out the whole show. I kinda like to go to shows full, that way i'm not thinking about food during the show. That is pretty darn cool. It is a great feeling. So the first set ends and they take a little break. We stepped outside for a little smoke. I think this show was a no smoking show. I saw a sign on the door. It was a nice night out. No rain yet. It was coming though. We then went back inside. I saw a buddy of mine who got a patch into he board. He was all happy. We talked for a bit. I then went and grabbed a booth and sat down with my friend that I came with and then we got to talking about more stuff that we haven't talked about before. We could always talk about anything. She is one cool friend. Married though. So the second set starts and the band is still in good form. They are having fun up there on stage. I did not know to many songs that they payed. But they sounded good. Falzarano was great. Buddy Guy was great and so was Willie, I mean David. It just slipped out, believe me!!! The first time. The drummer and the bass player were pretty good. The band was tight. The show was going on and I got another Sammy Smiths and I got some water fo my friend. We then sat in the back @ one of the booths and enjoyed the music sitting down. The show was then over I finished my beer. I only had 2 beers the whole night. One the first set and one more the second set. I was driving back and did not want to be impared. I packed up my stuff and headed out. My friend had a great time. Great food and a good show to boot. We then headed into my mobile and headed home. South on The NJ Turnpike. We got on the pike and I fired one up. It as like 2:00am. There was barely anyone on the road. I was crusing at a good booie pace. We passed right by Giants Stadium. She said she felt comfortable with my driving. As I was driving past Newark Liberty Airport I was thinking, I gotta take a leak. I told her I gotta stop at the next rest area and use the rest room facuities. My friend was ok with that. She wanted to pick up a pack of smokes also. I did my thing and I then met my friend out in the lobby. We then went over to the next building to get her smokes. While she was getting the cigarettes I was looking at all the food/candy displayed on the counter. There was TONS of candy. It was all looking nice and pretty and well lite. Every kind of candy you could thin of was there. Thay even had all kinds of peanuts there. I was like YUCK!!! I was still satisified from the sushi experience. It was a comfortable feeling. I did not want to disturb it with candy. My friend bought the *new* mega M&M's. I think they are supposed to be larger? She got those for her son. Those haven't reached her area yet. We then got back in my mobile and headed home. I was about a 1/2 hour from home. I just could not haold it in any longer. I think it was the 2nd beer that did me in. We got off the exit and then I dropped her off at her car in the hotel parking lot. She was like 15 minutes from her brothers house. We sat in my car for a bit and said our goodbye's. We both had a good time. As we sat there I had to whip it out! I just had to give it to her! She was suprised? But she took it anyway. She said it was very thoughtful. I said this is my housewarming gift for you. I told her there is nothing better than this in the land. You will years of enjoyment from this. A new experience in the shower will be had after you put one of these in. I told her that these are hard to find. I had an extra shower head in the car anyway. I knew it was in there and the timing was right. She put it in her purse and that was it. That made me feel better. We then went our separate was and left. I got home at 2:30am. I flopped down and passed out. I was up at 5:00am the day of the show day. The only thing that kept me going was the S, S & S, and me washing my face with cold water at the show in the bathroom. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That was my 10-6-2005 New Riders of the Purple Sage experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A couple of booie experience's worth mentioning. There is nothing like hanging out with an old friend and catching up on old times. No more sushi before I get my tickes for the show. Only after I have tickets in hand! The New Riders of the Purple Sage sounded great! Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale is still my beer of choice. There is *still* nothing like those shower heads that I am giving out! I still love my sushi. It's is real food! The tape came out great. You are welcome to a b&p if ya want one. Life out in Colorado sounds like a nice place to bring up a family. It seems like having Californians invade a town/community and bringing their ways/values into a town can alter the way of life in that town. What's up with that? What other towns are like that, on the left coast where Californians took over? The booie mobile handled like a champ! 352,000 and still rolling!!! Mexicali Blues Cafe is still one heck of a cool club! That is it, I am done . Sorry so long. booie....... New Riders of the Purple Sage 10-6-2005 b&p DVD audio only!!! ps.
