(DIR) 2018 Advent Beer Review Date: Dec 5, 2018 Beer: Rodenback - FruitAge Style: Blend Source: Roeselare, Belgium ABV: 4.2% "Rodenback FruitAge is a blend of aged beer - 2 years aged in oak foeders - young beer and 9% red fruit. A Rodenback signature taste balanced with sweet-sourness and fruity notes. Pure refreshment." (IMG) FruitAge This one comes all the way from Belgium in a can that's modeled after a RedBull energy drink. I've never had anything like this before and I was excited to try it. The closest thing I can describe it to is a carbonated Ocean Spray cranberry juice cocktail. I can't pick up any alcohol flavor at all. There's a hint of the oak barrels that lingers after the initial burst of sweet and sour. Calling this a beer is a bit of a stretch. It's closer to something like a pink champagne that would be fun to break on New Year's Eve. - Would I buy it again? No - How much could I drink in one night? A couple of cans before giving up and switching to a real beer.
