There are two small issues with it though. The road we took is called "Hardknot Pass" which, unexpectedly, starts with a massive warning sign of the coming 31% (sic!) slopes. In short, the road is brutal, and I would recommend avoiding it for anyone without experience of driving on serious mountain roads. The other surprise with Blae Tarn is that the parking lot costs a surprisingly large sum, something along the lines of £5 for 2 hours. That is without having any facilities on site, and cash only. Overall: it's a nice place, but certainly not a must.
