Ernest Istook). The Republican primary election is July 25. Gun Owners of America worked closely with Rep. Calvey during this year's legislative session in Oklahoma City, as he labored hard to get his "Stand Your Ground" bill enacted. Thanks to Calvey's bill, Oklahomans will not have to face prosecution for using a gun to defend themselves or someone else against a violent assault. Calvey's legislation applies inside and outside one's home. There is no duty to retreat in the face of a violent attack. This takes a tool out of the hands of malicious prosecutors who have made victims, who shot their attackers, prove that they acted in self defense. Now, the burden is where it belongs -- the government must prove that the defendant did not act in self-defense. We saw up close that in addition to being very effective, this man is extremely dedicated to the Second Amendment. That is why the Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is supporting his primary campaign to get the Republican nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives. Calvey is no novice when it comes to defending the Second Amendment. In the past, he has promoted legislation to conform Oklahoma's concealed carry laws to that of Vermont and Alaska. Namely, no permit of any kind is required to carry a firearm in these two very low crime states. Rep. Calvey has also supported efforts to remove the renewal fee for seniors who possess a concealed carry permit. I personally appreciate Calvey's other means of defending the Second Amendment, as well. After 9/11 he joined the Oklahoma National Guard. There is not much time left before the July 25 primary. I am writing to ask you to join Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund in contributing to Rep. Kevin Calvey's campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. The legal limit is $2,100, but any amount, be it $25 or $50 or $100 would be of great help for Calvey at this point. I can't tell you how important I think this race is. We very much need self-starters in the Congress who have a deep-set desire to improve the lot of gun owners. Kevin Calvey's election to Congress will be a big boost for all gun owners everywhere in America. You can contribute to Calvey's campaign online at https://www.kevincalvey.com/contributespecial.htm (a secure page that was set up specifically for GOA-PVF, so Kevin will know that his support is coming from gun owners). Another option is to print the Reply Memo below and mail it, along with your check made out to Calvey for Congress, to GOA-PVF. That way we can bundle all the checks and present them to Rep. Calvey at the same time. Please be as generous as you can with your donation today. As with so many congressional races, the main decision will be made in the primary. Whoever wins this primary is favored to be the next congressman from the fifth district. So, please, send your contribution to Calvey for Congress right away. Sincerely, Tim Macy Vice-Chairman ************************ GOA-PVF Reply Memo ************************ To: Rep.
