writer states, "Strictly speaking, the First Amendment protects citizens 
from government censorship. It doesn't necessarily shield anyone from 
retribution from employers or fellow citizens for voicing politically 
incorrect views. Yet the First Amendment protects free speech because 
it's essential to democracy. Whether free speech is suppressed by the 
government or companies or Web-surfing mobs makes little difference if 
the effect is the same." (I hope he is as tolerant about people carrying 
firearms on private property where they are banned by the property owner.)

Oops, Wrong Car: A man and a woman were wounded by gunshots in Texas 
after they drove up to a man who was pumping gasoline at a service 
station and the driver flashed a gun. When the victim tried to drive 
away, the pair followed him and was shot when the driver flashed the gun 
again. (It's not clear at this time if the victim intended to shoot both 
parties in the other vehicle; it's possible that one or more bullets may 
have been deflected by the auto glass.)
