Support Sought For Arizona Self-Defense Bill: Nearly a month after 
lawmakers completed action on a bill to make a 2006 self-defense law 
retroactive, the measure favorable to defendants has yet to reach Gov. 
Janet Napolitano's desk. The Senate approved the bill (SB1166) on May 2 
but the sponsor, Republican Sen. Linda Gray of Glendale, said she 
requested that its transmission to Napolitano be delayed in hopes of 
building public support for the measure.

NYPD Hit Ratio 8%?: An article that focuses on the difficulty for 
politicians to obtain internal NYPD documents, seems to state that for 
the year 2005, NYPD officers only hit their intended targets in 
gunfights eight percent of the time in 2005. "Critics of the 
department's firearms training said the NYPD has allowed firearm 
proficiency to slide even as the high-capacity 9mm handgun has become 
the department standard."

Interesting Study: In making snap decisions about whether to shoot a 
potentially armed suspect, police officers are far less influenced by 
racial bias than students or community members forced to make the same 
decision, a large study has found. The study, which was based on video 
simulations of armed and unarmed confrontations, found that racial 
stereotypes influenced the reaction times of both officers and 
civilians, but swayed the ultimate decision to fire only in civilian 
participants.
