Supremes Stall On Heller: The Supreme Court on Tuesday announced no action on a new case testing the meaning of the Second Amendment - an issue the Court has not considered in 68 years. The Orders List contained no mention of either the District of Columbia's appeal (07-290) or a cross-petition by challengers to the city's flat ban on private possession of handguns (07-335). The next date for possible action on these cases is likely to come after the Court's pre-Thanksgiving Conference - either on the day of the Conference, Nov. 20, or the following Monday, Nov. 26. http://www.scotusblog.com/wp/uncategorized/court-takes-no-action-on-gun-case/ http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071114/METRO/111140066/1004 http://www.firearmscoalition.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=1&Itemid=29 http://legaltimes.typepad.com/blt/2007/11/trigger-locked-.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/13/AR2007111302061.html?nav=rss_opinions --- Gun Laws Are Evil: In the United States, the issues and emotions surrounding gun control often obfuscate what is in essence, a matter of personal choice and responsibility. Currently, a majority of Americans believe that tighter gun restrictions, than those already in place, should be implemented to reduce crime rates and the incidence of mass shootings; and, with support ebbing from the recent Virginia Tech massacre, many politicians and preachers alike have advocated this reactionary policy. Although this action is merited by adding comfort to victims, such measures do not produce a more peaceful society than presently, and may inhibit law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves... http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/morales1.html --- Idaho Remains Pro-RKBA: As U.S. Supreme Court justices face a decision about whether to hear a key Second Amendment case in Washington, D.C., Idaho lawmakers say their constituents clearly support this state's open gun laws. While a handful of cities nationwide have adopted gun bans of varying degrees, Idaho is among the majority of states that do not require a license or permit to purchase a firearm. There is also no state-mandated waiting period on gun sales nor is registration with law enforcement agencies required... http://www.idahopress.com/news/?id=1789 --- Blaming Gun Owners For Drug Gangs: If you don't subscribe to the Washington Post, consider yourself lucky. This paper is arguably one of the most anti-gun in the country, and will use any story they can as an excuse to go after American gun owners and manufacturers. The most recent example is a story blaming smuggled guns from the U.S. for gang- and drug-related killings in Mexico. Among the whoppers in this article are claims that fully automatic machine guns, grenades and grenade launchers are being sold to Mexican smugglers at American gun shows... http://www.nranews.com/blogarticle.aspx?blogPostId=332 --- Oops, Wrong Car: A suspect is dead after messing with the wrong person Tuesday morning.
