July 5 Questions 2023-07-25 =========================================================================== A reply to christyotwisty's 5 questions for July... gopher://sdf.org:70/0/users/christyotwisty ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. What's your favourite way to stay active? Up until recently I'd have said cycling. But, it is *very* hilly where we are renting, so I mostly walk now. A 4-6 mile walk in the sun out and back into a town, or along the coast, is very nice. 2. What's the best way to stay focused and productive? Enjoy what you are doing. Find an enjoyable aspect to even the most unpleasant task, and focus on it, if you can. Easier said than done. 3. If you could have any sport or game instantly mastered, unrelated to your current interests or abilities, which one would you choose and why? Maybe snooker. Seems like something that, if you are good enough, it could be an enjoyable way to while away the afternoon forgetting everything else. 4. Share with me an interesting trivia tidbit about your favourite historical event. When penicillin was being developed as an antibiotic in WWII, the mould for the first tests was grown in bed pans (and other things). The purified penicillin was so precious that, when they started using it in patients, they collected urine to re-purify excreted penicillin - so bed pans to the rescue again! I saw some cool photos of this stuff, when I worked in the basement of the Dunn School of Pathology in Oxford, where it all happened. 5. Share a summer recipe. Not really much of a recipe, but it is very tasty with fresh, sweet, summer tomatoes... * Take half a fresh baguette, and slice it in two lengthways. * Spread pesto on both sides. * Place sliced mozarella on the bottom slice and season with pepper. * Add sliced fresh tomatoes on top. * Add rocket leaves on top of those. * Drizzle on a tiny bit of basalmic vinegar. * Close up the tast sandwich you have now made, and eat it :-)
