I guess � 쿶t is time for me to acquiesce and consider the really far- � 쿽ut subject of the infamous Men In Black. I don't like to � 퀃hink about them for I have always thought the subject not a� 쿹ittle silly. � � � 쿞ince 1977, the year of my great enlightenment, Men In Black� 쿴ave been mentioned to me by a few citizens. In fact, around� �1979, at an Ohio UFO Investigators public presentation in � 쿎incinnati, Ohio, my friends and I may have encountered two � 쿽f the "creatures." � � � 쿏uring the registration for the conference two men entered � 퀃he lobby. They were dressed in very neat dark suits, � 퀂ported very GI haircuts and what looked like Air Force � 퀁egulation dress shoes. The twosome would not speak to � 쿪nyone. � � � 쿙either would they register, although they paid the � 쿪dmission fee. Actually I have always thought that they were� 쿌ir Force Intelligence agents who forgot to change their � 퀂hoes. � � � 쿍ut then, at the end of the program we were walking down a � 쿹ong corridor leading to our vehicles. The two mystery men � 퀇ere walking ahead of us. We were laughing and talking � 퀁ather loudly. Both men turned and looked at us. At that � 쿾oint the corridor made a right angle turn. They rounded the� 쿬orner. Although we were probably no more than forty or � 쿯ifty feet behind them by the time we turned the corner the � 퀃wo men had disappeared. � � � 쿥e were all astonished. We looked for a door that they could� 쿴ave ducked into and at the same time were wondering why � 퀃hey would do that. Three of us ran to the outside door and � 쿹ooked around the parking lot. They were gone. Unless they � 쿭id duck into one of the unmarked doors what they did was � 쿶nhuman. � � � 쿞ome years later a married couple moved into an apartment � 쿬omplex just two blocks from my residence. The lady, a � 쿻urse, had had some very unusual experiences. Somehow she � 쿴ad found out that I was a MUFON investigator and came down � 퀃o the house to discuss her situation. I can't remember what� 퀂he told me. � � � 쿍ut, I do remember what her husband said. They had moved � 쿯rom Akron, Ohio. While there the husband became the leader� 쿽f a rather healthy UFO group of citizens. He would rent � 쿾art of the enormous hangar of the Goodyear Blimp and � 쿬onduct meetings in it. � � � 쿞ince it was so long ago I can't recall how the warnings � 쿫egan but eventually the Men In Black became involved in an � 쿪ttempt to scare him off. He didn't scare. That is, he � 쿭idn't become frightened until his little giris told him � 퀃hat two men, in dark suits and hats, driving a large black � 쿪utomobile, were following them to and from school. � � � 쿟he implication was clear. Either he stop his UFO activities� 쿽r something would happen to the children. That is when the � 쿯amily moved to Dayton. The gentleman would have nothing to � 쿭o with any UFO organization. � � � 쿟here was no reason for me to doubt the authenticity of the � 퀂tory. � � � 쿞omewhere around the end of the 1970s the Men In Black were � 쿺ade known to me again. That time, I felt, the story was � 쿯illed with humor. � � � 쿔 taught a senior high school class in Anthropology. There � 퀇ere two sisters, who were my students. Their heritage was � 쿾art Native American. In fact, their mother was a Native � 쿌merican from South America. � 쿘rs. X was a citizen of Chile. During the terrible days of � 퀃he Chilean revolution and the following years of � 쿭ictatorship she became involved in supporting Allende, the � 쿹egitimate Communist presidente of that suffering nation. � 쿟hen, the Communists were thrown out of office, with what � 퀂eems to be considerable support from the United States � 쿶ntelligence community, Mrs. X, realizing that the Communist� 쿹eader was far better for her country than the military � 쿭ictator, became quite vocal. Prudence dictated that they � 쿯lee while they were still alive. They went to Brazil. � � � 쿟he father and the daughters, my students, were American � 쿬itizens and I think the wife also was a U.S. citizen. � 쿛eculiar things happened and they were unable to leave � 쿍razil for the United States. A long time passed and finally� 퀃hey made good their exit from Brazil before the authorities� 쿬ould catch on to their plan for legally leaving Brazil. � � � 쿍oth parents were professors at one of the Ohio state � 퀅niversities. Both came in and lectured to my students about� 퀃he primitive natives of South America and other peoples of � 퀃he world. � � � 쿚ne day the gentleman told me about their experience with � 쿘en In Black. � � � 쿌t that time the family lived in a community east of Dayton.� 쿍y the time I had met them, the mother and both daughters, � 쿫ecause of their heritage, had been accepted into the local,� 퀅rban, Shawnee Tribal Council. � � � 쿥hat happened to them next is what we wish would never � 쿴appen in America. Someone was watching them. They � 쿭iscussed the problem and decided that either a foreign or � 쿢nited States intelligence organization was watching them � 쿪nd at the same time intimidating them by being obvious. � 쿟hey didn't consider the situation dangerous. � � � 쿚ne evening two members of the Shawnee Indian Nation visited� 퀃he family's home. The men in that council are large, for � 퀃he most part; very impressive physical specimens; proud � 쿭escendants of the famous Tecumseh. � � � 쿞omewhere in the course of the conversation the one Native � 쿌merican said, "There are two guys sitting out there in the � 쿪lley watching your house. What's going on?" � � � 쿟he response was, "Oh, those two sit out there about every � 쿻ight. Don't worry about them. But they do make us nervous."� � � 쿟he Shawnee replied, "Don't worry about them. We'll take � 쿬are of it." � � � 쿟he next night the black vehicle was once again parked in � 퀃he alley, both men, clad in dark clothing, were watching � 퀃he house. Suddenly the two Shawnee appeared, one on each � 퀂ide of the car. � � � �"Hey, man! What are you doing out here in the dark?" � � � 쿟he car windows were rolled down and the occupants had no � 퀁ecourse but to respond. "Nothing. Just sitting here. We � 쿪ren't doing anything." � � � �"Yes you are," said the deep voice of one of the Indians. � 쿧ou are bothering our friends inside the house." � � � �"No. We're just sitting here." � � � �"Look, man, we say you are. Do you know what's behind your � 쿬ar, at the end of this little alley? Well, I'll tell you. � 쿟here is a swamp. The swamp is deep and boggy. In fact, my � 쿫uddy and I could roll this car backwards into the swamp and� 쿶t would sink and no one would ever find it. Get it? � � � 쿏on't ever show up here again or bother our friends again or� 퀉ou will disappear forever." � � � 쿘y story teller, a college professor, mind you, laughed. � �"They took baseball bats and smashed out all of the lights � 쿪nd windows on the car. That's the last we ever saw of the � 쿘en In Black." � � � 쿍ecause of that story I never took The Men In Black very � 퀂eriously. I was prone to think they were costumed agents of� 쿪 paranoid government agency running amok. � � � 쿔n the May 1992 edition of Lou Farish's UFO NEWSCLIPPING � 쿞ERVICE, there is an article that is far more serious than � 퀇hat I have written. The validity of the report is � 쿿uestionable. I don't know any of the people involved, � 퀇riters or witnesses.
