Burnout

I had a conversation with one of my
favorite colleagues yesterday I was
helping her pick up stuff that had been
(temporarily) stored in my space.

She's burned out for a lot of the same
reasons I have been: that non-profit
education feels very unrewarding. You
can have big goals and hopes but in the
end there's never the support to
actually do anything more than just
weird perfunctory tastes of topics that
let someone check off a box that says
"this child has seen STEM".

I'm hoping that if I can carve out a
more useful space then maybe I can,
selfishly, keep her around and we can
start building up a group of more people
who have the right values.
