# ROOPHLOCH 2020 - Commuting 2020-09-28 --- This is my entry for ROOPHLOCH 2020. I'm on my commute home from work. Actually, I've cheated slightly and ridden a few km past my house today to find a quiet bench by the canal at the south of the city. I'm fortunate to have a short (~9km) commute to work, which I cycle. And, living in a relatively small and formerly heavily industrialsed city I'm fortunate to be able to ride almost door to door on shared use paths that follow the route of former railway lines and canal towpath. So I'm now sitting on a bench by the towpath at the south edge of the city by a dis-used and overgrown bridge. Roughly 20 minutes riding from the city center the main road that loops around the city to the south west is audible in the distance but from here all I can see is feilds, trees and still water. I'll link a couple of photos when I get home. I'm typing this in vim, with my thumbs, ssh'ed into the republic inside termux on my second hand OnePlus 3, it's _painfull_. I'm going to add this entry to the gophermap then follow the path through the next couple of bends, climb a small hill and close this little loop along one of the previously mentioned rail trails. Because I'm hungry now and its time for tea. *** Later... *** Home now, the fish is in, the spuds are boiling. The small biting insects that hang about by the canal enjoy the tase of Dave, oops. I have ammended the post to spell ROOPHLOCH correctly.
