60 - Saw some moving mushrooms. joneworlds@mailbox.org The other day I was underneath a really old rotten house, crawling around with a flashlight in this dirt floor crawl-space basement sort of room. I finally find the back-flow device in the corner and do the testing on it. Not even close to a pass. And I'll tell Cliff about it, but I kind of doubt he'll do anything. He says the town's computer system makes it really hard to enter a failed test, so he usually just enters them as a pass unless the thing is like split in two or something. Whatever. The town of Burloo is still making an effort at infrastructure maintenance, sort of. That's sure better than what they do back in Braxon, which is nothing. Anyways, while I'm under that house, I see a really strange thing. There are all these mushrooms growing under there, big greyish ones with bluish parts on them. But the weird thing is, they are all swaying back and forth in this slow steady 3-second rhythm. Left, right, left, right... and all of them in sync, like they're dancing. How can that even happen, they're just mushrooms. I never saw a mushroom move like that, except maybe in some old video game, the legend of mario or whatever it was. I get out of there, and I'm dusting myself off by the truck. The owner of the old place comes out an offers me a waffle. No, thanks. They sure do love their waffles around these parts. It's spring now, and even some flowers are coming up, like these daffodils between the side of the house and the curb where I parked. I like daffodils. But as I get into the driver's seat, I look over and I could have sworn that those daffodils by the house were moving ever so slightly in a way that made me uneasy. Left, right, left, right...
