So I got a new part-time job. It's pretty dumb but it's okay. I'm just another keyboard monkey taking dictation for investors. The pay is butt but it's better than zero. The one thing that kind of gets me is that it's so asocial. I mean you're constantly, and I mean constantly listening for stuff to type out, so it's not like there's really time to get to know your coworkers. I literally only know the names of two of my immediate supervisors. That's it. It's very much plug and play and I'm acting like a speech-to-text bot. I'm not really complaining, but it's just so weird and unlike any other job I've ever had. I was a computer monkey before, but it required zero listening so we were able to converse publicly with each other. Not that that always happened, but it was nice to have the possibility there as well as the occurrences. Anyway, I've been there less than a week but it's so rough. You'd think it'd be easy, but evidently these people are on their phones in their car, mumbling, saying stuff that doesn't make sense. Meh. It's harder than I thought, but at least it should help with my typing speed. I'm at around 50-60 WPM. I've kind of maxed out there for a while now. People speak at like three times that speed, so that sucks. Anyway, I hope everyone out there in Gopherland is having fun. I rediscovered the Gopher Lawn[0] on bitreich. Good stuff. 0. gopher://bitreich.org/1/lawn
