College football in recent years has gone through a lot of conference
realignment. Actually, it's kind of always been doing this, but it's
been getting much more ridiculous and capitalistic recently.

UCLA and USC don't belong in the Big 10.
Oklahoma doesn't belong in the SEC.
WVU doesn't belong in the Big 12.
UCF doesn't belong in the Big 12

It's all done for marketing nonsense. Commercialism, advertising, etc.
have ruined some great matchups. But again, it's been going this way
for decades.

I'll be sure to post the list of conferences[0] I'd like to see and
update this post with a link to it.
