An institution of which I used to be a part finally decided to update their email system and migrate users, including me, to a new email address. That's all fine and good. It was supposed to be done by now, but it's not. I needed to access it and found out that I didn't have access. I contacted the helpdesk and eventually, after a password reset, was told that I needed to have the account reactivated. Great /sarcasm. The best part is a false warning/notification on the login screen saying that the new email address is what I should be entering. According to Helpdesk, that's a lie (in my case). I really, really cannot stand lying error messages. Any computer-savvy person should especially hate it as it can make the problem unsolvable. It's just a headache that's way, way more complicated than it needs to be. What a joke. The stupid thing is they should have had the "new" system in the first place. They're using MS as an email provider, so maybe it used to be cheaper or something. That's the only thing I can think of as a valid excuse for this mess. I can understand if they needed to save money, but it's still a massive inconvenience, and I imagine a costly one, too.
