WARNING: Strong language I feel like an outlier more and more these days. I'm searching for a job and several application questions ask me to provide my LIn ID. I got rid of it as it was a social networking site for businesses and I had little interest in social networking and even less in business. I don't even do federated stuff like M'don or LetMe. I just don't get it. I don't understand people. I don't understand what's so goddamn great about sites like Igram. I have no clue WTF Snipchit is trying to do. I think it's almost exclusively picture chat, instead of video or text chat. I don't understand why people insist on getting an app for every little fucking thing. I've said it before, but so many apps are completely moot with a decent website and progressive web apps (PWAs) are often much better. I don't understand why anyone would actually want so many things that are being pushed. Video games are probably the easiest to demonstrate how out of touch I am with the "common" public. Huge disk space usage, subscriptions per game, microtransactions, pay-to-win, DRM, on-disk DLC, the same games that have been released at least 3 times before. I just can't imagine spending just as much for an unfinished buggy mess that requires large resources just to run well as old completed games that take up less than 1% of the space, are well-tested and working, and are much more fun. Upgrading your system every 5 or so years. Why? I don't even know what the current Xb name is. Series X? Xtreme? I thought we were past One by 2 gens, but I honestly don't know. I thought the name "One" was bad and confusing. MS proved it can do much worse. Am I that much smarter or that much dumber than the average consumer? The more I interact with these HR and hiring people, the more I feel cut off. I was talking to a friend about his use of @pole products, trying to be non-confrontational and not weird about it, but I probably failed. He just said he likes it. I didn't really bother pressing because who wants to hear someone preach about tech? And I can't even recommend &roid is so far gone with "Material You" (seriously looks far, far uglier than any &roid version before it) that I can't in good conscience even support them anymore. And buying already-modded current phones with Ubu Touch or something else is like 650 or 700 Euros. I don't care to try to convert that into dollars or want to imagine international shipping costs and time. The raw price alone is enough for me to veto it. Phones shouldn't cost more than $500. Am I too uncompromising? I don't know. Cancel culture is such a huge thing today but oftentimes I feel like the only individual who mostly sticks by their convictions, at least for the most part. I mean A-to-Z and other online retailers probably aren't good, but I still use them and their subscription model includes LOTS of benefits. I feel like I'm speaking with my wallet but I never hear about other people boycotting companies like D+ or N'tendo for doing extremely douchey things like ruining George Lucas' legacy or deceptive advertising. What the fuck do any of these tech giants have to offer? I feel so isolated. I don't understand people. I don't understand business. I don't understand advertising. I don't understand human networking or negotiations. I don't get it. Why can't people just say what they mean? Why do we have to hide behind niceties and outright lies? And why, oh why do people think ChitGPT is a good thing? "Does thinking you're the last sane man on the face of the earth make you crazy? 'Cause if it does, maybe I am." -Del Spooner, I, Robot
