Captain*s Phlog 2020.02.06 _______________________________________________________ Welcome to Lypanov. Their first post on Gopher.Club [1] was on Tech Minimalism. I appreciate their daring yet mayhap overambitious aspirations of "a world in which my entire e-life could fit within a tiny network connected device such as the ESP-32". The struggle is real, Alex. I feel your pain and I hope you are able to stay committed to your plans to write more on your efforts with this vexing topic! I am not sure I will ever achieve a state of such perfection myself but this inspired me to outline the Tech-Load in my life. The "State of My Art" Tech-wise... !Smart Phone - My cell is dumb. It is a pay-as-you-go arrangement on the beta network in our area. It will call and text. It does have a primitive web browser that is too expensive to use. Smart "Phone" - I do own a Samsung Android phone. I got it at a garage sale for a buck. The previous owner didn't delete a single bit of personal data off it. Doofus. I use it as my MP3 player, Camera, and my platform for Viki (Free Asian Movie/TV Streaming). Server - The only job of my Acer Aspire One at this point is serving my Gopher content. It serves HTML too but uses only socat to do so! WinBox - I recently bought an Acer Swift for $50US for my graphical needs, which are minimal. The Pi - I have a Pi Zero W running Raspbian Buster Lite (sans GUI) that I use for learning C and tooling the Net in text mode from CL.
