NATURE IS A GREAT HEALER Some pictures from the garden. I'll update this throughout the summer as a garden-journal. (IMG) iris.jpg In the garden ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ <2023-05-28 Sun 12:00> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (IMG) lilacs.jpg The weather outside is serene. The scent of lilacs carries through the yard. I am relaxed and at ease as I move through the garden. My hands are in the dirt, digging, pulling, and shaking. I lay down ground cover and make room for new seedlings. Every action is small but intended. I can only make gentle suggestions to the natural world. It will always do its own thing, mysterious in its reasoning but unyielding in its determination. (IMG) cat.jpg If I'm lucky I may even get a visit from a furry friend on their hunt for dinner. Sprouts ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ <2023-05-28 Sun 12:00> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (IMG) not sure.jpg Stuck in dirt, watered, and then wished-upon-a-star. Lo: they punch through the dirt as microcosms of their full form. They are spring-loaded. The tension in their small stems visible like the shock of green against dirt. Upwards they grow. (IMG) beans.jpg (IMG) chard.jpg (IMG) peas.jpg (IMG) raddish.jpg (IMG) sproutt.jpg This year I am growing swiss chard, peas, beans, raddishes, and beets. There will also be some corn, maybe, and sunflowers if I'm lucky! My garden elf planted garlic and raspberry bushes last year. Both are doing extremely well! Flowers ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ <2023-05-28 Sun 12:00> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (IMG) white lilacs.jpg Happy heads of scent and colour. Their necks craning to follow the sun like periscopes searching for land. I continue to try to cull the dandelions in the garden, pulling the big ones up after rain or on a boring day. There are many wild flowers that appear without my effort. The lilacs, as always, are bountiful. (IMG) dandilion.jpg (IMG) forgetmenots.jpg (IMG) pansies maybe.jpg <2023-06-04 Sun 17:50> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After a few unseasonably hot days the weather is a week of rain. I find the drizzle, droplets, and puddles cooling. The darkened days add intrigue to the textures of plants. Flowers get drenched and their petals drop onto the ground forming splashes of colour on the asphalt.
