in back bedroom, soon to be parents' room

Hope's the first mood of Christian Advent season;
in hope, prepare for the coming of the Lord, debt's
pardon, wars to cease, mercy. How to prepare? Tree;
lights?

"Where's your eye?" I ask First daughter.

"It's Eye!" she exclaims gleefully; points at it.

"Where's your (ear, nose, teeth, hair, feet)?"

She knows them all.

Put on mom's Godspell record. Apostles, unhesitat-
ing, throw off former lives, sing "Prepare ye the
way of the Lord." First daughter stands up, stares
at the record, grooves and bops.

She stops, looks at me beaming. She's going to let
me in on the greatest joke. She points at her ear.
"It's EAR!" We both bust out laughing. She claps
happily.

Prepare for Love by loving.
