I'm going to be honest with you; every sense I was a kid or as far back as I can remember, I've been solving problems. When my father left the family, my Mom aways came to me to fix stuff around the house and from a young age I've been fixing problems. Most of the time I found the repairs to be relatively simple, so I started making small but relatively simple improvements to all my repairs. Now-a-days, I make repairs and updates for a living, working at a contract manufacturing firm called, "Jabil Circuit." My repairs and updated fell into the age of electronics, which only made sense. I always find myself making small improvements around the house, therefore making my wife's life a little easier. When I was reading the job description for Mid-level design position on Ideo's website; I got hung-up on,"email your portfolio." I never pieced any of my ideas into a single notebook or folder or anything like that. I just did what made sense to me, I fixed problems better then the original form. I currently work in the Advanced Manufacturing Technology group at Jabil, which means we work on problems that the normal fast past manufacturing group don't have time or the skill set to fix. I see our small group as a basic research and development group for Jabil. The best part about AMT Group is repairing and updated processes and products, just like when I was a kid back home. The mostly important thing that I want to add is recognizing why I have the ability to fix things. It's hard to put it into words how I create and repair thing, but I can spatially see sharps and mechanics in my head. I have the ability of visually and spatially intelligence making almost impossible tasks easy bumps in the road for me. I have a really good example of my ability; in the last 1990's is was an electrician apprentice. My boss, at the time, was a master electrician and he always asked me how I so able to make electrical repairs so quick. My response was, "I'm not sure, I do what I think makes sense." As I look back on these small moments in my life I realize what I was doing; I imagine what the electrical wire was configured in my head and I imagined where the failure or bad wiring would be. I have always been able to imagine things, but I never thought I could do it for a living. I realize that I even do it when I'm writing this letter. I've never found my dyslexia to hinder my performance in the work place and I feel it gives a cutting edge over other candidates. I hope to see you in the future, because I knew Ideo is the perfect place for me. If you gave me a chance I know you will not be disappointed.
