Just nice clear text seems to be something more soothing than graphical interfaces. I realize curses has some graphical output but the intensity of other windows is pretty harsh after all this time. Back when I started on a simple computer (C64), on to a 386sx MSDOS system, computing was 1 single window, a single program. It was a task to work on then once it was completed, then ... then, and I really emphasise THEN (not a movement before), on to the next task. Computing tasks were simple, and intentional. Today its twenty or more windows and 10 tasks. Computing is for computers (corp systems, data collectors), and not for people. I think people think computing is for people, but its mostly for data collection, or for the computer itself. People including me operate computers more like how an operating system does, .i.e, task switching. The IT job is not focus compatible. f-ing streams of revenue' this is the modern world of computing, nothing more than streams of revenue for the only purpose of gobbling up digital representations of money objects quantified, scrutinized, homogenized, for consumption to produce coins. Its all pretty silly. I would love to see a truly free computer system out there somewhere for only the proof that it is completely free. I can't even think how that is possible to this day. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ^ ^ ^ In my daily work in IT I have no choice to be in curses mode ^ ^ only. ^ ^ ^ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ************************************************************************* * * * After all these years of sitting at the desk looking at the * * screen, as time moves faster and faster, one day I looked in * * the mirror, and saw my hair is grey, my face sags, my muscles * * have shrank, and I'm my life is well past noon, there is * * nothing in the world that can be seen for which my work has * * shown.
