Once again it has been a while since I last posted here. Since my last post, I have been lucky enough to travel to the United States. In mid-September, my eldest daughter visited to say that she had been selected to travel to the USA to attend a conference in St. Louis, Missouri. She had arranged to leave Australia 5 days early so she could visit New York with a friend. She had booked accommodation and had just found out her friend had pulled out. I made a comment that I've always wanted to go to New York, and my daughter said why don't I come? I said don't be silly and left it at that. After my daughter left, my wife said why don't you go with her? I replied that I'm not sure it would fit in with my leave dates - so I checked. The day my daughter was scheduled to leave was just before my leave started. I was able to make some minor adjustments to my leave dates and I was able to go with her. We left Australia on 19 October 2018 and flew via LA to New York. It's a very long way. We spent 4 days together in New York before my daughter left to attend her conference. I stayed a couple more days in New York before taking the train to Boston. I had 4 days there before renting a car and driving to Washington DC via Poughkeepsie NY and Lancaster PA over 3 days. Washington took up the next 4 days then I travelled back to New York on the train for another 3 days. I kept a blog at https://bradmac.id.au/blog for full details. I really enjoyed my trip to USA. I have not been to the east coast before and I found the people to be friendly, polite, helpful and interested to hear about Australia. I will be back some time. --- bradmac@SDF.org 2018-11-29
