I have recently been enamoured with the kitty terminal emulator.
It reminds me very much of i3 except just for terminals. The hotkeys
are easy to learn and the configuration is easy as well.

I used to run the i3 window manager for awhile on my old laptop.
Eventually I wanted to move to Wayland so I stopped using it but
kitty allows me to pretty have the best of both worlds.

when I full screen my terminals with kitty, I can use my computer
like i3. But I can also minimize kitty and get my regular desktop
back for all my point and click stuff. give it a shot!
