Not much here yet, just some old files and odds and ends from an old gopher. Why the Name? it's an old C:\\con\con thing is all ;) __________ ___________)%%%%%%%%%/ /%%%%%%%%%%/%{}%%%%%%/ /{}%%%%%%%%/%%/%%%%%%/ /%%\% _---_/ \/%%%%%%/ /%%%%\/ /()|%%%%%%/ /%%%%%|() /+ /%%%%%%/ /%%%%%%%\ +/HH%%\%%%%/ /%%%%%%%/%HH/_/%%%\%%/ ejm97 /%%%%%%%/%%\/%%%%%%{}/ /%%%%%%{}%%%/%%%%%%%%/ /%%%%%%%%%%%/ / / / / concon@sdf.org I was toying with the idea of making up another Phlog here but I always end up deleting all my posts anyway, though I do enjoy reading others. I was reading through SolderPunks Phlogs and had to smile at some of the posts there, things like the reason for Gopher, things between Gopher and HTML, some of which I actually do, like writing HTML pages very much like a gopher, something I might add that Rhett "Jonzy" Jones also still does (Jughead creator). There are a ton of people out there who prefer a "minimalist" type of web page. I remeber writing about how the web was a flash filled, java laden nest of ads and BS that interupted the decent flow of information and that is why Gopher was better, and that was over 20 years ago ;) Playing with wml and comparing byte size of identical pages in HTML, WAP and Gopher. Also of interest was the entry about off grid computing, for a while I ran an iPhone 1st Gen and an iPhone 3 as web servers (Both Jailbroken) they used so little power! Remember the web server ran off a potatoe?? Pubnix's are fun and I ran one for a long time too right out of the house, starting with a 14.4 modem and ending up on DSL eventually, before that was BBS's. Ahh but times have changed and now it's harder and harder to browse with My favorite web browser (Lynx) but I still do! And I still browse Gopherspace ;) Anyhow, Happy Gophering!
