------------------------------------------------- Title: Back to reality this week. Date: 2022-02-28 Device: Laptop Mood: Not sure. ------------------------------------------------- This week feels like a return to normality. Not for any domestic reason, more my upcoming schedule. Today has been a pretty normal day (with the exception that the kid was sick, so not at school, but it was nice to have him hanging out all day, even if we did just watch cartoons while I worked on the couch). Tomorrow, though, is my first 'real' trip to London since the pandemic; by 'real', I mean back to all the old business-travel tropes, and the old haunts. Train to London, Euston, tube (and, on Thursday, tube strikes, which is excellent news), hotel, and dinner at the club with JB, SC, AHM, and others who I know less well. I'm hoping that I can convince JB to let me reapply for membership, as having access to a good club can really make these trips more bearable. I'm aware how ridiculously priviliged some of this sounds, but I guess I've spun that very British combination of money, luck, class, and accent to allow me to access these things. I shouldn't have theurge to *explain* myself on my own journal, but I do feel slightly uneasy talking about these things. It'll be nice to not have to deal with technology for a few days. I've been struggling with endless-seeming boring paperwork exercises recently (recertification, so it's not even intellectually stimulating), but again I guess this is back-to-reality. Not all work is fun. --C
