I've really been enjoying Mastodon. Compared to
other social media, there is undoubtedly more of
an initial effort to be made in uncovering
interesting people to follow. I've been dropping
into a few other instances to find those
interesting people; FOSS and gamedev related. I
guess it'll take a while to understand and refine
the process, but it's fun to follow the chain of
people and topics ever-deeper.

I'm using Mona, which seems like a nice client,
and it syncs everything between my phone and my
Macbook. It's fast and mainly invisible which I
like, after I turned off a lot of annoyances in
the sidebar which I didn't understand or want.

I've also been liberally using the block button,
mainly on bot feeds which are just polluting the
water with low-effort RSS spam. I imagine that
with the uptick in interest in federated social
media, a lot of marketroids are needing to tell
their boss "yep, we use Mastodon" even though the
sum total of their contribution is just to use it
as a Twitter replacement and shout into the void.
