Hi! I'm Dave. I really love the retro/vintage computing aspect of Gopher. I was never a Gopher user, but I am acquainted with some older technologies. About 20 years ago, I started programming on a minicomputer system called Pick. If you haven't heard of that, think COBOL or FORTRAN. About 20% of the software I worked on used a browser-based interface. The rest of it used a text-based terminal -- usually a terminal emulator running on a desktop machine. I came to love the speed and efficiency of those text-based interfaces. As interfaces moved to the browser and modern transports, I really noticed that each interaction took longer. Today, I just accept that I have to wait after every click of the mouse. Text-based interfaces make me feel like I'm actually doing something. Feel free to send me an email!
