 title : LORDS OF CHAOS
 
So over the past few months, I've been discovering black metal
for the first time. Kinda late to the party, I know. I've always
had a pretty diverse taste in music, but I've always actively
avoided the heavier metal genres. I think in particular the
growling vocals were a pretty big turn off, they would make me
cringe. Well, I bought a CD from Half-Price Books on a whim. It
was Carving out of the Eyes of God by Goatwhore. I bought it
purely because of how ridiculous the name Goatwhore sounded
to me. Slowly this music has been growing on me, so I've been
exploring older artists of the genre. Perfect timing would have
it that a movie detailing the early Norwegian black metal scene
released a few weeks ago. It is titled Lords of Chaos, and it
chronicles the bands Mayhem and Burzum. I'm sure anybody who
listens to black metal are familiar with the story of Euronymous
and Varg Vikernes, but if you don't know anything about the early
Norwegian black metal scene, I would definitely recommend this
movie.
