A discord I'm on -- it's filled with old friends from Prodigy and the
only discord server I talk on -- descended into madness today. The
server owner is a hardcore Liberartian, and he's also a COVID denier.
Not outright denial, he doesn't believe its fake, but he downplays
the severity and claims its all a drug marketing scam. So, in other
words, an idiot.

The thing is I've known the guy for 25 years. So I'm stuck with an
unenviable choice of holding back my kneejerk anger and accepting 
his opinion, or giving in and exploding and telling him just how
fucking stupid we all think he is. Well, someone beat me to the 
punch and took the choice away from me. Which is fine, but I now 
fear the implosion of our little community.

Nobody is listening to each other. Regardless of what position you 
take on any given subject, listening and finding common ground is 
imperitave to the process of communication. But it's little more 
than a shouting match, and one between (normally) level-headed 
individuals at that. So it has me questioning the validity of the
old adage that "everyones opinion is to be valued". 

What if it's a stupid fucking opinion? 

I don't know. This phlog entry is little more than a rant. I'm not
making any kind of point here because I'm just spinning in my
frustration over the probably death of our community. It's
unfortunate, and I'm absolutely exhausted with COVID and politics
taking things away from me.
