This has given me the opportunity to learn and use skills in both the mainframe and distributed/cloud environments. My database administration role gives me the chance to work with fellow DBAs, developers, management, and other stakeholders to manage, schedule, and deploy changes and maintenance in critical Production environments. One of my favorite things to have done in my career is to learn new skills and help grow in my role. I have learned a number of technologies on both mainframe and distributed/cloud platforms including z/OS, z/OS utilities and tools, JCL, EasyTrieve, REXX, IBM Infosphere Data Replication, Linux, PHP, Node.js, JavaScript, Java, C, and Python. My Database Administration experience has allowed me to work on the following database platforms: IMS, Db2 for z/OS, Db2, MongoDB, Oracle, and MySQL. My decision to work towards earning my Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Georgia Tech is out of a passion for technology as well as an opportunity to grow my career. There is an important need for leadership in the area of cybersecurity, and I believe my technical background along with my ability to build relationships puts me in a good position to help guide and lead a team. ================================================================================ Experience ================================================================================ August 2017 - Present Senior Database Administrator | Kyndryl | Atlanta, GA As a Senior Database Administrator, I am a part of a team that helps to ensure the integrity and availability of our mainframe database environment, including IMS, Db2 for z/OS, and IBM InfoSphere Data Replication, in an "always-on" enter- prise environment. I participate in a regular on-call rotation, consult with de- velopers in database-related questions and troubleshooting problems in the data- base environment. I also participate in a Site Relaibility Engineering team to automate manual processes with a goal of eliminating human error and speeding up the time of problem resolution. May 2014 - August 2017 Database Administrator | Unum | Chattanooga, TN I worked to ensure the integrity and availability of both mainframe-based (IMS and Db2 for z/OS) and distributed (Db2 and Oracle) database systems. I also wor- ked with my colleagues on problem resolution and participated in an on-call ro- tation for critical mainframe database systems. My work included collaborating with developers on database-related questions and troubleshooting to collabora- ting with z/OS systems programmers on how to modernize the mainframe environme- nt. November 2016 - January 2019 Programming Consultant | TextGov | Roswell, GA This role gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in cloud technologies, specifically those hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), and work with platforms for natural language processing. I was also able to expand my expertise in web- based technologies like PHP, JavaScript, and Node.js to build webhooks and a chat interface for a real-time chat between customers and clerks. This applica- tion allowed me to build and implement a continuous integration environment using Git, BitBucket, CodeShip, and Beanstalk to simplify deployments. May 2009 - May 2014 Programmer Analyst | Unum | Chattanooga, TN My responsibility in this role was to help maintain the legacy mainframe insur- ance administration application through defect fixes, changes to existing prod- ucts, and the addition of new products to the system. I also worked with knowledgeable, seasoned mentors to expand my technical and business knowledge as well as worked with business partners to explain "current state" functionality of applications. ================================================================================ Designations, Activities, and Awards ================================================================================ - Walker County Chamber of Commerce's "40 Under 40" Award, 2013 - Fellow, Life Management Institute, Designation, Earned in September 2013 - Associate, Life Management Institute, Designation, Earned in June 2012 - IBM z/OS Mainframe Practitioner by IBM on Coursera, earned in May 2020 - IBM Cloud Essentials, Earned in November 2020 - Mainframe Specialist - REXX Programming - Experienced, Earned in Nov. 2020 - DevSecOps Essentials, Earned in April 2021 - Credly Badge Profile: https://bit.ly/3eNQm17 - Member, Technology Association of Georgia
