Deirdre is off on a ladies night, so instead of just staying at home browsing the web I'm off to the woods around Sørumsand! Have never camped in our own woods, but there is a lot of forest with lakes and rivers for water so should be no problem to have a nice night in the woods. Its also good to know your own back yard as we want to use it more this year and forward. With a relatively light pack I started into the woods, basically due south, and following the trail marked for Varsjotrimmen. This trail takes you though some lovely forest area before placing you on the lysloype (about 2km of lit road that is skied on during winter), then on past the Dam. Here you start climbing up unto the woods, over large boulders and a tundra landscape. After a short time you will be brought onto another road used for forestry, and a few hundred meters more down hill you will be brought to Damtjern. I had looked on Google Maps for a suitable campsite and had decided to try going around the tjern and into what looked like flat, fairly tree free area. There was a little path just to the left of the tjern so I followed this around, and when getting to the opposite side headed deeper into the woods. While the area was pretty the ground was think with moss and fairly swampy, so I decided to head back to where I had entered after reaching Damtjern. ....... 2019-01-02
