f6k's log #2, 2018-06-29. it took me some time to understand (and admit) that i'm quite dependant of my environment. i mean my personal environment. the city where i live, the apartment where i'm in have some influence on my efficiency. since i can't have a great impact on the shape and the state of the city, i know i have to maintain my place in a certain way for me to be good. obviously it has to stay clean; if i let things get degraded i know it'll have an impact on my mood, my social life, even my work and studies--in a general way this has an influence on my ability to get things done. the place needs to be simple; the least furniture possible, each having its usefulness, no fancy. otherwise i know by experience it'll have some impact too. the funny thing is that it's the same on my systems and that's part of the explanation why i like unix-like operating systems which i can keep simple, clean and steady. apparently this expands too on my online spaces. if we take this gopherhole for instance, i needed to find a way to keep it as simple as possible--thankfully the hierarchical structure of gopher helps a lot. i have this other site over http hosted by github. at first it was very simple too but as time passed things became slightly more complex--not that much but enough though--and i noted that it had some kind of influence on my desire to feed it with articles and new log entries. i know i'm not the only one in that case but it's still odd for me to think that the way i am day-to-day is affected as much by that. i hope i'll keep this place as straightforward as possible so i can continue to write in it. eof -- cc by f6k@sdf.org
