.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~. I’ve started looking into building a solar battery for my personal use, mostly to charge my laptop or phone off-grid to help with the electricity bill. I also kinda wanna wire up my RPi0W to it when I finally get the chance to bring my server back online. I also wanna try to look at anything else I can set up a solar battery for: electric kettle, small camping range, home music system (low power speakers + media device), lights, a fan, a small heater... The list keeps going. I don't really use a TV, but I could definitely use a radio. Especially now that digitial TV has all but ruined OTA channels where I live. Seriously, I can't even get a clear signal for PBS anymore... .~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~. I always have the idea of reusing and repairing things on my mind. I don’t like buying new electronics if I can avoid it, since most used devices just need a new battery or some minor repairs to be completely usable again. My iMac (TheGallows)? 2009 model bought off eBay. My MacBook (Pokétopia)? 2009 model bought off eBay. My MacBook Air (Dronebook)? 2011 model refurbed by Apple. My Windows desktop? Old Dell XPS given to me by a spouse. My iPhone 4S? eBay. My previous iPhone 4? eBay. My previous Lumia 1020? eBay. I have a parts MacBook A1181 in my closet, a Vista laptop, and two XP era laptops, all free from various locations. I also have a tablet laptop in there (in need of a new HDD) that I got off eBay, and a Dell Optiplex (Vista era) with no memory or HDD that I got from Goodwill. And an iMac G3 that I got off eBay. (Author’s Note: I may have a problem...) My Windows laptop, LG Fx0 (FirefoxOS Flagship) and RPi0W were bought new, but the laptop was a gift, the Fx0 was cheap, and the RPi0W I plan on trying to keep working as long as possible. Even my Kindle is practically ancient, and was bought at a discount due to superficial damage. And I have fun bringing back old devices that most people have discarded, or consider obsolete. Everything has a use, regardless of age. If it's still working, it can be used for its original purpose. If it's not working, it might be repairable to the point of being usable once again. If it can't be repaired, perhaps it can be salvaged for its components or scrap parts, for use elsewhere. .~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~. I'm on a green kick, and a DIY kick as well. Still wanting to make an RPi or RPi0W into a word processor, and a home net radio reciever for things like aNONradio and the Montecito Bay event streams...and for playing mod tracker music. Also wanting to make a new desk and bench, and maybe a Murphy Bed to put in here for storage and such. I mean, it'd be nice practice for when I move out to get into a place I can decorate as I wish. Really should draw up some plans for that stuff, I guess.
