The negativity gets to me, and starts making the negative thoughts in my own head get stronger. And as much as I keep wanting to quit, it's difficult when I don't have ways of contacting people outside of those portals of negativity. Twitter especially has become a hotbed for artists in the furry community after the loss of Tumblr, and with how bad FurAffinity tends to be with its over-policing. Other art sites have their own stained records, but despite all the crap moves Twitter keeps pulling, people keep moving to it because, much like FurAffinity, it's "where people are". The problem is, social media is controlled by activists, political agendas, and people who just want to cause problems for those they don't like. And I don't just mean Twitter and Facebook. I mean the Fediverse (Mastodon/Pleroma) and various open federated services as well. I can't speak for diaspora* since I haven't used it in a long time, but when I was there, it was growing in that same direction. This isn't healthy for people. It's not healthy for civil discussion. Of course, the other problem with social media is the /GIGO/ problem: garbage in, garbage out. Both Twitter and the Fediverse have an insane signal/noise ratio, with my guess being about 1:200 for the Fediverse, and 1:10K for Twitter. There's just so much being thrown out there that has no real meaning behind it, that things that actually do have meaning get drowned out pretty quickly, and that's assuming you actually even show up in the case of the Fediverse. As a result of everything, I *really* need to leave social media behind. It's not healthy for me, and it's obviously affecting my judgement in many places, all for the worse. This came to a head recently, when I slammed Chrome over changes they're making to their browser. I started listening to people that it would trickle down to Chromium and such, which wasn't real. But the false information stating such was overwhelming any form of truthful reporting, simply because of how much it was being repeated. It wasn't my fight anyway. I don't use Chrome, or anything with Chromium, so I really should've just kept quiet. And I think that's what I'm going to do about most things going forward. Even Mozilla, whom I actually use software from. I need to be less negative, period. Even if that means just staying quiet as things happen around me. \~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~/
