Ok I am back into trying OpenWrt. 
I downloaded the x86 image and 
installed it into a micro sd card. 
40mb of system is pretty sweet compared
to other distribution. Took a couple
try to get it to boot. 

Booting into openwrt feels pretty cool. 
It's a 1 user (root) system by default
with auto loging. I know it's super 
not secure, but I like it like that. 

The image doesn't have any tools for 
wifi, as it's aiming to be on a computer
with a network card. Which this
laptop doesn't have. 

I try to copy some packages manually, 
but can't find what I am looking for. 

The only way that make sense is
to create my own image. Openwrt 
wiki is pretty good about how to 
go about it. When creating the 
image I am even presented with a
TUI to build all the packages 
that I would need. There are a lot
of packages, with offline IMAP
which I use with mutt as well as
mutt and many other tools I'll 
ne happy to explore. I didn't
put everything that I would need
since as soon as I can have 
a wireless connection I'll 
be able to pkg install all 
I need. But it's exciting to 
see how easy it would be to 
create my own openWrt image
that I could use in the future
if I break something. 

My main issue now is that my
wireless card is Qualcomm Atheros 
QCA9565, which there doesn't 
seems to be any drive for. 
I am not sure if using a similar
driver might work?

I ran out of disk space while 
compiling the image, and it's 
now running on my main machine. 

That's all for today! Maybe I'll
get somewhere further tomorrow, 
or maybe it'll take me the 10 
days of the OCC to build a system
that works for me?

Meanwhile I can use the arch system
which resides on the emmc of this
machine to continute the OCC. 
I know that I'm offloading some 
of this on my main work computer...
