Short time no rap at ya.  Is this thing on?

Epic disaster.  Daily driver was a MS SUrface Pro 5, and it simply DIED.  looks like the soldered onboard storage 
is done.  And there's no fixing these things.  I'll write more later, but that's doubleplusungood.

I now have two more machines (discovered today) that will not boot, also running SSDs.  Did we get fricking EMP'd 
and nobody noticed?  Yeah, unlikely.  Disturbing though.

Oh wow, this is pico, not nano -- there's no ^R^X to "read in" the results of a shell command.  Anyway...

Dead machines:
- Surface Pro 5 (2017) Windows 10
- hp X360 (2016 or 2017) OpenBSD
- MacBook Pro Unibody (Late 2008) Macos 10.11-ish, Whatever was called El Capitan.

Common factors:
- SSDs died
- Owned by me
- Backed up bot not very recently

So the priceless heirloom data (hoarder!) is safe on the air-gap NAS, but nothing from the last two months is 
coming back.  Yes, I should back up more frequently.

I'll be sure to let you know if anything else mysteriously dies.  The remarkable cross-platform distribution of 
the same failure on three machines in 48 hours is alarming.  Or boring.  

At any rate, it's a fact now.
