---------------------------------------------------------------------- About cameras and such ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I was going to talk about rss feeds today but a few phlogers have been talking about cameras lately (Undo, Free Thinker, and Alex Schroeder) so I thought I'd throw my thoughts into it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't really like having my picture taken, never have. Even when I take pictures of myself, the amount is far less then my peers. this combined with dead hard disks and long deleted social media, means there are few pictures of me from child hood to now. The pictures when I was a kid exist because they were taken on film and then developed onto paper and put in a small box that lived under the TV. This method of storage turned out to be more resilient then digital methods. Now I tend to take pictures with an old but sturdy Polaroid 600. It is extremely expensive ($3 a shot) holds very few blanks, and requires a lot of light to take photos. But I like it because the pictures it takes are 100% unique in this world. When the camera spits it out, thats the only one. You can of course scan it but it is then clearly an inferior copy, this makes Polaroids a sort of analog NFT. Some photographers and models well sell Polaroids separate from the main digital or film shoot for this reason. Instant photography is always in a precarious position though, spectra film was just discontinued, and there is no telling how long film well remain in production, already the vast majority of instant cameras are useless. So I enjoy it while I still can. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- btw DON'T shake your Polaroid pictures, thats only for really old ones.
