May 22, 2013 Language Number 2 ============================== So this year I decided that I would try any get back into learning a foreign language again. Traveling for work, I have found it quite humbling just how much we take for granted in the US when it comes to communication. And I've always found linguistics to be an intersting topic so why not make this year's resolution to become "fluent" in a second language. To really complete the resolution, I've decided that by April of next year I'll find a place in the US where I can take the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) exam with the hopes of getting to a level B2 in a year. Looking online it seems as if there are multiple standards used in different countries but they all seem to have an associated value to CEFR. Then to make this task slightly easier I decided to take up Spanish again. I studied it for 4 years in Highschool, doing better than average but in no way really fluent. I started working on Polish as I thought the girlfriend would want to study with me as it was her father's family language, but she never got into it, so for now my language of the 2013 is Spanish.
