No computer in living room ========================== As a preparation before the Christmas I removed the iMac G5 from the living room. So there is no computer nor TV in this room (the only TV which I have is actually a CRT monitor for some old computers). There is still the Apple CD device with pair of Harman Kardon speaker for playing of music CDs. The iMac has been mainly used as a DVD player and even in this role has not been used too frequently (a few times per year). Actually, there is a Kindle reader and often also the Wikireader somewhere in the living room. Technically they are both computers but practically they are reading devices. There is still a lot of possibilities to spend free time here without computers... we have there some books, some desk games and so. The iMac was moved to our computer room. There is an access to the wired Ethernet, thus it should be possible to update the machine a bit (to install the latest TenFourFox, to put this year's photos to the iMac and more). I should also update the free software here (there is no GQView/Geeqie for some reason). At the moment it is probably one of the most powerful machines in the room - it would be interesting to compare its speed which the Intel Compute Stick (which is the most powerful computer that I actually use...).
