One keyboard less
=================

Today I got a converter which allows to use the normal PS/2 keyboard on old
SiliconGraphics (SGI) systems (the Indigo, the Onyx and some of the 4D systems
... of course, the Indigo itself is the last machine from the 4D line). [1]

Thus I am able to put the original (and rare and thys expensive) set of the
keyboard and mouse to the storage. I have nothing against them but I prefer to
have just one keyboard on my desk: I have a KVM switch so I should be able to
control most of my computers from the single point. Also, the keyboard is
heavily used and some keys are unreliable (it is interesting that the mouse is
in perfect condition).

At the moment these devices are available:
1. SGI O2
2. SGI Indy
3. Intel Compute Stick  (via the PS/2 to USB adapter)
4. SGI Indigo (via the adapter [1])


There are some systems here which resist to be connected in a standard way:

- the iMac G5 (I have not find any PS/2 to USB adapter which can work reliably
  on Apple machines: I have at least 5 different ones and no one is OK; they
  work on an Intel system without issues, though); I use a small Lenovo
  keyboard with the trackpoint here,
- the Power Macintosh 6100/60 (I have no clue if any PS/2 to ADB adapter
  exist).

At the moment no other desktops are available near my desk (the NSLU-2 is not a
desktop and thus it has no keyboard/mouse connector, and both the Parallella
and the original Raspberry Pi are in storage).

It might be interesting to connect also the Psion Series 3a to the KVM (I have
a PS/2 keyboard adapter) but I still haven't tried this possibility.
