Whis week

This week  was crazy. Terrible  shooting incident in local  hospital at
Tuesday  (a presumably  mad  person  shot nine  patients).  It is  very
unusual here. Police works almost perfectly, they secured large area of
the  hospital and  of  the  university in  minutes  and were  obviously
prepared for  any possible development  (and were very  helpful). Local
media (including the state-owned TV) performed terribly, however.

The Logout's  Czech news channel [1]  have proven to be  very useful in
that day, I accessed  it from my Tungsten W (I  have accidentally had a
N900 with me, too but its battery was dry is to short time).

We had  a small party  planned for  the same day  but it was  of course
cancelled.

At Wednesday I visited my colleagues at the University of Pardubice. It
was supposed  to be a  very nice meeting but  after that Tuesday  I was
mood was very  dark. It seems that  the TV and other media  make us too
inert - some of my colleagues were  not able to understand why I was so
shocked. They  have seen a  lot of killing and  murders in TV  news too
often so  they saw  nothing special  in this case.  But it  is somewhat
different experience if someone killed  several persons just 200 meters
from my house. And many of the  victims were friends or relatives of my
co-workers.



At least the "new" laptop for my  wife arrived at Friday (the 13th). It
is not  too new (and  it only returned from  repair): it is  the Lenovo
Thinkpad  R500 (there  is  a  ~2GHz Celeron  and  4GB  of RAM,  nothing
spectacular). My  wife likes old  IBM Thinkpad keyboards (I  thing that
she loves old good Thinpads look  and feel, not just the keyboards) and
this machine is still relatively  close to them (her favourite machine,
the R51 died before some time).
