System time =========== My SGI IRIS Indigo (that computer from 1991 which has a 33MHz MIPS CPU) does not use the NTP protocol to synchronise its time. I keeps its time locally (its RTC chip is supported by a Tadiran battery which is soldered in). I do not have any type of clock on the desktop nor in the terminal so I normally don't care about time here. So I never noticed how is the clock precision. I use this computer to browse the gopherspace, to write short texts and programs, and to play with old SGI tools so I don't need to care about the time, actually. But today I noticed that the VCal (a small nice Motif calendar) shows incorrect day. So I issued the "date" command and fond that is is about 23 hours late. I have set the correct time in 2017 and then have not touched is. So is 23 hour normal or too much? I have no idea.
